UPVC Window Restrictors - A Guide
UPVC window restrictors can play a crucial role in safety in the home, care settings and hospitality settings, but how do you know which one to choose?
The good news is that all Jackloc window restrictors can be used on UPVC windows and that fitting is quick and simple, so your choice of window restrictor will be based on how much control you want to have in the possibility of overriding the restriction to the window opening.
Key-Locking Window Restrictor Options
If you would like to be able to open the window completely with a key you have three Jackloc Key Locking Window Restrictors to choose from.
Our three key locking window restrictors are the Pro5 and the Pro5Duo which are both cable window restrictors, and the Titan Folding Window Restrictors. All of them restrict the opening to a maximum of 100mm to prevent falls and access through the windows.
We will look at the Pro options first. Both of these options have been tested to withstand 34 stone and have a 5 disc locking barrel and grade 4 security screws for unrivalled strength and durability. Both options can be over-ridden with the key but the Pro5 Duo Cable can also be removed from either side when not in use, this can be useful if you only need the restriction in place at certain times, for example if you have children or vulnerable people visiting.
The Strongest Window Restrictor
If you are looking for the most robust UPCV window restrictor choose the Titan which can withstand 74 stone, which exceeds all standard requirements by nearly 10 times and is awarded Sold Secure status by the Master Locksmiths Association, making it the first, and only, window restrictor to achieve this accolade.
It also has the 5 disc locking barrel and grade 4 security screws. The Titan by Jackloc is the strongest and most secure window restrictor in the world, due to its steel folding mechanism.
Push and Turn Window Restrictor
If you are looking for an option that can be opened without a key then choose the Pro-Twist Cable Window Restrictor. This option allows you to open the window completely using a ‘push and turn’ mechanism. Like the Pro-5 options this cable window restrictor can withstand a force of 34 stone and features grade 4 security screws.
Permanent UPVC Window Restrictor
If you are looking for a UPVC window restrictor that does not allow the window to be opened further than the restriction without completely removing the restrictor, choose the Jackloc Perma option. This is a great choice for settings where it would not be safe for the window to be opened beyond 100mm at any time and you want the peace of mind of that permanent restriction. Like the Pro-5 and Pro-Twist the Jackloc Perma features the grade 4 security screws and is strength tested to hold a force of 34 stone.
Whichever Jackloc UPVC window restrictor you choose, you can be confident that you have chosen safety and security.
