    Leicester resident becomes naval recruit

Award-winning company Jackloc, based in Claybrooke Parva, is bidding a fond farewell to its Operations Administrator, Joe Seteram, who is preparing to depart the business for a life at sea.

Joe, 27, will leave the Jackloc company at Christmas to start his training in the New Year as a Medical Assistant Submariner in the Royal Navy. He will undertake a 10 week intense training programme in Cornwall, which will test his physical capabilities, followed by several months at a medical academy.

Once he has passed-out, Joe will be stationed in the UK, where he will complete his submariner training, after which he will have the opportunity to be posted to any English or allied military base worldwide. Speaking about the radical change in career, Joe said: “I have always wanted to study paramedic science and whilst there were several universities which offer a course none were quite the right fit for me."

“Training with the Royal Navy will be much more practical and will give me a more diverse range of experience covering everything from advanced first aid to treating radiation sickness. What’s more, at the end of it all I get to work on a submarine, something I am really looking forward to.”

Joe started the application process a little over two years ago, during which time he has been working at Jackloc, where he has assisted the family-run company with processing customer orders. In addition the company’s location in Claybrooke Parva has even helped with Joe’s training, with him cycling to and from work in an effort to improve his fitness. Emma Wells, Director for Jackloc, commented: “Joe has been a fantastic part of the team at Jackloc, making sure that every order is packaged correctly and on time for the customer. What is both outstanding and commendable is that he cycles a 35 mile round trip from his home in Leicester to Claybrooke Parva every day regardless of weather conditions."

“We will keep in contact with Joe no matter where he is in the world and wish him all the best in his future career.”

Joe concludes: “Whilst I am very excited about the new challenge ahead I will be extremely sad to say farewell to the wonderful team at Jackloc who have supported me throughout my journey. I will always treasure the memories of working at Jackloc, and will stay in contact with the Jackloc team as I see them as part of my extended family.”
