• Jackloc
  • What types of window can Jackloc be used for?

The simple answer is, the Jackloc can be fitted to any type of window. Its versatility is one of the main reasons for its global popularity. When safety is paramount, in schools, care homes, hotels, and high-rise apartments for example; the Jackloc’s universal functionality is the perfect solution.

Jackloc: Designed to optimise health and safety

The Jackloc was designed to improve health and safety and reduce the number of serious and fatal accidents from window falls. The Jackloc conforms to British and European standards and can be fitted to any window material: wood, uPVC, aluminium, or steel. It is simple to install and can be fitted either vertically or horizontally depending on your requirements.

The Jackloc’s standard length cable is 200mm. This can be increased or reduced if required, however, health and safety recommendations suggest a maximum opening of 100mm.

    Permanent or fixed locking options

Depending on your requirements, you can choose from three Jackloc locking options:

    • Key operated – The best choice when you want restricted opening access eg in schools, dormitories, care homes, and hotels. The key should never be left in the lock and should only ever be accessible by a responsible adult. Key operated Jacklocs are great for all types of windows and are particularly convenient for sash windows where you want the option to fully open them for maximum ventilation.
    • Push and Turn – Push and turn release locking systems are more easily accessible than key operated. They are ideal for installation in home environments, especially with children, where only an adult will be able to use the opening system. Their easy accessibility and child proof function makes them great for all window types including casement, sash, and tilt and turn.
    • Swivel/stud – This type of Jackloc is permanently fixed to the window and window frame. It is often used in hospitals and schools where permanent window opening restriction is required.

Jackloc also manufacture a non-universal folding window restrictor. This can be fitted to top or side hung windows and advice is available on the suitability for your specific circumstances. Whatever your window safety requirements, there’s a Jackloc to suit your needs. For more information about Jackloc or to place an order call +44 (0) 1455 220 616 or send us a message online.
